A few weeks ago, I just got a recent order to bake a birthday cake for one of my favorite librarians! I had a couple ideas in mid before I thought -"What if animals were walking out of the books themselves?" Hence this idea gave me the idea of The Magical Story Book Cake.
This Magical Story Book Cake was going to be something special, I just knew it! This cake had Dinosaurs from the dawn of time, mermaids from hidden coves, unicorns from enchanted forests, different types of animals, and vehicles each from a different story! These characters are popping out from every story book you could imagine! I wanted to do something so creative and perfect for one of my favorite librarians at the Friendswood Public Library!
For this special magical birthday cake, I really wanted to express the imagination of all kinds of characters escaping from their stories! We got all the plastic props surprisingly from the Dollar Store! As for the cardboard books, we got them at our local Hobby Lobby!
For the flavor of this cake, it was a coconut strawberry cake with two 9'' rounds at the bottom and two 8'' rounds at the top! I decided to off-center the top layer of the 8'' rounds so that more of the props would be able to fit at the bottom tier of the cake. The buttercream for this cake was a simple coconut buttercream with a thicker consistency to hold up all the props!
Thank you so much for reading my blog! This Story Book Cake is one of my favorite cakes yet and I am so grateful I got to bake a cake for my favorite librarians!
