The Best Donut Birthday Cake

I just received my first ever birthday cake order for one of my good friends Don. Since I knew he would like almost anything I baked him, I decided to do something special, and add a popular morning delicacy. Donuts. The process of making this donut cake was such a blast! Especially all the decorating and positioning of the donuts and the coffee cup. I absolutely loved baking and decorating this cake!

For the flavoring of this cake, I decided to do a simple white cake with blue confetti sprinkles. I also thought it would be fun to add several donut holes in the center of the cake to have a nice little surprise! This cake also has blue frosting in between the cake layers, and a blue frosted crumb-coat.

One of my favorite parts about this cake was the, you guessed it, donuts! These donuts just made the whole cake pop to life with beautiful colors, and delicious flavors! When I was positioning the donuts and donut holes, I used toothpicks to help stabilize them into the cake to prevent them from falling during transportation. I also got the donuts from our local Riley's Donuts shop because I unfortunately have no clue on how or where to start when making donuts from scratch.

As for the coffee cup decoration, I thought it would bring this whole cake together with a perfect balance between the color variation and morning theme I was looking for in this cake. I mean, you can't have donuts without coffee!

Overall, this cake was ever so delicious, with such divine decorative elements, and small surprises hidden within this cake. I highly recommend this cake to all those donut, cake, and morning lovers out there!
